The Museum offers many opportunities for continuing education and lifelong learning. You can learn about the history and culture of the Chesapeake Bay and pass this information on to Museum visitors as one of our volunteer docents; engage in the hands-on activities of the Museum's Model Guild; or expand your horizons as a member of the Academy for Lifelong Learning.

What is The Academy?
The Academy for Lifelong Learning at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum offers the unique opportunity to enhance your life through continued learning experiences, both within and outside, a formal classroom environment.
Programs are conducted year round. All courses have an informal format and are developed by the members. Suggestions for new programs are welcomed.
Courses are a mixture of discussion-group meetings, directed by a knowledgeable leader; round-table presentations; lectures presented by volunteer experts or uniquely qualified individuals; self-financed field trips; and social events. Classes are now being held on the CBMM campus and other nearby locations.
Additional information concerning The Academy’s policy, philosophy, goals, objectives and strategy are highlighted in The A.L.L. Strategic Plan. Click here to see the Strategic Plan 2006-2010. The officers and committee members of the Academy are given here. The dates of terms and various activities are given in the calendar.
