ESSPNWHO WE ARE: The Eastern Shore Senior Providers Network (ESSPN) is a non-profit (section 501.C6) regional network forum whose members provide products, services and programs for the Delmarva Peninsula's growing senior population. Networking events, newsletter and website access, marketing and referral of members are among the benefits of joining ESSPN.
WHAT WE DO: ESSPN serves the senior adult community on Delmarva by promoting public awareness of senior-oriented businesses, services, government and nonprofit agencies; and by advocating public understanding and appreciation of senior interests in such areas as health care, employment, housing, transportation and law.
ESSPN also is a highly active professional network whose members share leads, ideas, and information in the interest of improving their knowledge base and skills in serving the "50+" market. Senior providers on Marylands Eastern Shore and Delaware are invited to four meetings each year - September, November, March and May - to hear speakers present information on a variety of topics relevant to senior living and doing business in the senior market. Recent topics have included: effective techniques for marketing to seniors, universal design in home building, becoming a Certified Senior Advisor, assistive technology for independent living, hearing loss and treatment, programs offered through Maryland Aging Corporation and Upper Shore Aging, safety issues for older drivers in Maryland, and many others.
OUR PARTNERS: Creating strong relationships with Upper Shore Aging, Guide to Retirement Living, and various county commissions, nonprofit agencies, service organizations and professional networks, ESSPN is becoming widely known as a source of information and assistance to seniors and their families.
OUR SERVICE: Every year, ESSPN supports a nonprofit cause or program that benefits the elderly population on Delmarva. In 2006, ESSPN sponsored a free informational open house showcasing Mid-Shore nonprofit and government organizations whose resources are devoted to serving seniors and their families. In 2007, the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Maryland received $1,000 from ESSPN and four members participated in the Salisbury "Memory Walk," which raised more than $50,000.Projects to benefit ESSPN sponsorship during 2008 are presently under consideration.
JOIN NOW! As a volunteer and nonprofit organization now in its third year, ESSPN is developing new initiatives and expanding its outreach to Delaware and the Lower Shore counties of Maryland as well as the Mid-and Upper Shore. For those serving growing senior market on the Eastern Shore peninsula, ESSPN is an invaluable resource for success!!

Great Books Reading & Discussion Program
The Great Books Reading and Discussion Program is based on the idea that by reading from the great books of our civilization and discussing them with other people - sharing your insights and questions - you can reach a fuller understanding of these works than you could on your own.
The only requirements for joining a Great Books discussion group are curiosity and a willingness to work with others toward an understanding and appreciation of the readings. The leaders are equal members of the group with no claims to superior knowledge; their special function is to ask the questions that sustain discussion and help keep discussion focused. As your group compares ideas about a reading and explores unanswered questions together, you will arrive at your own interpretations of the work.
The cost to purchase a Great Book series is approximately $30. Each multivolume series includes 15 reading selections and a Reader's Aid with interpretive questions for each selection.
The current two sessions of Great Books are held in the Conference Room at the Talbot County Library in Easton on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month. The first session meets from 9:30 - 11:00 am. Contact Dana McGrath at mikeym@goeaston.net or 410-822-9152. The second session meets from 11:00 - 12:30 pm. Contact Ashley Childs at ashleysumer@aol.com or 410-924-3410.

The goal of The Upper Shore Genealogical Society of Maryland is to discover, collect and disseminate data and records significant to history and family research. By becoming a member of the Society, you will be joining many others who share this goal while tracing their family's origins to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Founded in 1973, the USGS continues to serve as a focal point for genealogical activities in the counties of Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, Caroline and Dorchester. The Society is an important link in the exchange of information between resident and non-resident family history researchers.
A forum of exchange is provided at meetings which are held on (starting September 2006) the third Sunday during the months of September, November, January, March, and May, at 2 PM. Meetings are held at the USGS Meeting Center & Library. Occasionally meetings are held at other locations of genealogical or historical interest.
The annual membership fee of $20.00 covers the period from July 1 through June 30. It includes the Society's publication Chesapeake Cousins, an annually published Surname List and Cousin to Cousin, a periodic newsletter.
